If you’re looking to impress your guests this year then make this super simple 4 ingredient peppermint bark recipe. This is the dessert you bring when you want to impress your in-laws, friends or just need a tray of goodies to eat if you’re crying your eyes out at the latest Lifetime and Hallmark holiday movies. My family can’t keep their hands off and I’m constantly keeping Adam and Ava out of the fridge from getting seconds and thirds!

I know I post a bunch of recipes that are super simple but you guys it doesn’t get easier than 4 ingredients, all of which you may already have in your cabinet! Ava helped and had fun pouring in the layers and sprinkling on the candy canes so get your little ones involved. They can help crush up the candy canes or just eat all the left overs that don’t make it to the pan.

Ingredients

  • 2 12oz bags of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 12oz bags of white chocolate chips
  • 5 candy canes, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

Line a 9x12 baking sheet with parchment or wax paper

In a large skillet, heat 1 inch of water until boiling. Pour the semi sweet chocolate chips into a heatproof bowl and set into the pan. Continuously stir until the chocolate has melted and is completely smooth.

Pour the chocolate into the baking sheet and smooth out with a spatula. Bang the pan a few time, lightly, onto the counter to help evenly distribute the chocolate.

Place in the freezer for 5-10 minutes until it starts to slightly harden, but hasn't hardened completely.

Repeat with the white chocolate chips and adding the peppermint extract in as it melts. Once melted, pour over the chocolate layer and spread out evenly.

Sprinkle with crushed candy canes and set into the freezer to fully harden, about 1 hour.

Notes

Add more peppermint extract to taste. I like the hint of the peppermint so I opted for 1/2 teaspoon only. Don't let the chocolate layer fully harden and freeze too much or the white chocolate layer may not fully attach and you'll be left with split layers of bark. Store in an air tight container in your fridge and enjoy!
